Prepare the surface properly before you resurface
The quality of a resurfacing, line marking or high friction surfacing project depends heavily on the preparation beneath it. Planing and milling remove damaged or unwanted material, correct levels and create a surface profile that supports a stronger finish.
Surface preparation services include
- Surface milling and planing.
- Asphalt and concrete surface removal.
- Surface level correction and profiling.
- Texturing for grip and skid resistance.
- Edge planing and tie-in works.
- Patch planing and localised repairs.
- Removal of existing high friction surfacing.
- Thermoplastic and rib line removal using skid steer planer where suitable
Planing widths for different environments
THB can support a wide range of planing requirements, from major highways to tighter spaces such as trenchworks, tie-ins and pavements. This flexibility makes the service suitable for resurfacing programmes, reinstatements, localised repairs and preparation before new markings or coatings.
Skid steer planer for confined works
For smaller or more constrained areas, THB’s skid steer planer can support localised surface preparation and line removal. When combined with hydroblasting and road sweeping, it provides a complete preparation route from removal through to a clean handover surface
Our preparation process
1. Assess: we confirm the required depth, surface condition, traffic constraints and tie-in requirements.
2. Plan: plant, sweepers, waste handling and traffic management are coordinated before works begin.
3. Plane and prepare: the existing surface is removed, profiled or textured to suit the next stage.
4. Clean: sweepers or hydroblasting support can be used to remove loose debris and contaminants.
5. Handover: the surface is prepared for resurfacing, line marking, HFS or reinstatement works.
