    Banksman

    THB is looking to hire a Banksman to work on a variety of exciting Civils projects for the business.

    This role is crucial in ensuring safety on construction sites and other areas where vehicles and mobile plant are operating. You will be responsible for directing the movement of vehicles, guiding drivers during manoeuvres, and ensuring that loading and unloading procedures are carried out safely. Additionally, you will oversee the movement of mobile plant equipment like excavators, making sure that the surrounding area is clear of obstructions and pedestrians to prevent accidents. This role requires keen observation skills, clear communication, and a strong focus on safety protocols.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Maintain clear direction for vehicles and mobile plant, ensuring they remain separate.
    2. Minimize reversing whenever possible and understand the hazards associated with it.
    3. Utilize practical signalling techniques and agreed-upon hand signals to aid drivers and operatives in manoeuvres.
    4. Ensure visibility to drivers while directing vehicles and plant.
    5. Stand in a safe position to guide vehicles without obstructing their path.
    6. Keep traffic areas clear of pedestrians.
    7. Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements of the site.
    8. Maintain clear and effective communication via two-way radio at all times.
    9. Report any near-miss incidents involving vehicle movements to the Wood Operations Manager and Shift Supervisors and complete necessary paperwork.
    10. Comply with all Health, Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental policies and procedures.
    11. Be prepared to undertake additional tasks within the scope and grading of the role as required.

    HGV 1 Driver

    THB are looking to hire an HGV Driver (Class 1) to support driving activities for the business.

    We are seeking both day and night drivers who possess excellent driving skills and prioritise safety and environmental responsibility. Here’s a breakdown of the responsibilities, benefits, and requirements for an HGV Class 1 Driver position:

    1. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and customer site rules.
    2. Maintain the security of transported products during transit.
    3. Drive defensively and fuel efficiently at all times.
    4. Verify the accuracy of delivery and collection notes and other paperwork.
    5. Provide precise paperwork for debriefing of assigned tasks.
    6. Adhere to transport legislation, including driver’s hours and vehicle defect reporting.
    7. Deliver exceptional service to customers.
    8. Fulfill any reasonable requests from the Transport Management Team.
    9. Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles and wear provided uniform and PPE.

     

    Requirements:

    1. Possession of a current and valid LGV Licence.
    2. Minimum of 6 months of driving experience on UK roads.
    3. Essential possession of a Drivers CPC card.
    4. Understanding of laws regarding drivers’ hours regulations and tachograph usage.
    5. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Civils Operative

    THB are looking to hire a Civils Operative to work on a variety of exciting Civils projects for the business.

    As a Civils Operative, you’ll report directly to your foreman and play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Here’s a breakdown of your key responsibilities and requirements:

    1. Safely operate while navigating the site, adhering to all safety protocols.
    2. Prepare materials and set levels for compaction.
    3. Engage in manual labour tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and site cleaning.
    4. Install various elements including kerbs, concrete, timber edgings, block paving, and undertake small bricklaying works and ironwork adjustments.
    5. Lay concrete and undertake drainage works, both deep and shallow.
    6. Perform excavation and backfill tasks as required.
    7. Prepare sites for asphalt surfacing.

     

    Requirements:

    1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Civils Operative.
    2. Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
    3. Street Works qualification is desirable.
    4. Possession of a valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) card for operating equipment such as a roller, dumper, or excavator is desirable.
    5. Valid driving license.
    6. Must be clear of alcohol and drugs when reporting for work, as there’s a regular testing program in place.
