What is the process of laying fibre optics?

What is the process of laying fibre optics?

Fibre optics are telecommunications cables that get installed underground. Light signals transfer broadband signals through the fibre optics cables to deliver data quickly.

THB has a team of contractors who specialise in laying fibre optics for residential and commercial clients throughout the United Kingdom.

Here is a breakdown of the steps we use to lay fibre optics for our clients:

1) Dig a Trench

Our workers will dig a trench for the duct that eventually goes into the ground. It won’t be a significantly deep trench but deep enough to contain and secure the duct and fibre optics cables.

In addition, we’ll attempt to make the trench as straight as possible. That will make it easier to blow the fibre optics later on.

2) Lay the Ducting

The next step is to lay the ducting in the trench. Again, we’ll keep the ducting straight, so it can avoid getting impacted by sharp sticks or stones surrounding it.

Orange ducting will be placed underground and connected to black ducting aboveground.

3) Blow the Fibre Optics Through the Ducting

Now we must blow the fibre optics through the underground ducting by injecting compressed air into it. We can move the fibre optics cables a few hundred metres through the blowing process.

4) Install the Wall Panel Boxes

A plastic panel box will get installed on the inside and outside of the property. The fibre optics cables will be allowed to enter the property through these boxes.
