How do we lay tarmac?

How do we lay tarmac?

Laying tarmac is an effective way to improve the appearance and condition of your driveway or roads. THB uses a comprehensive process to lay down the various tarmac materials so that you end up with a strong and sturdy driveway for your vehicles.

Here is a breakdown of the steps involved in this process:

1) Excavate the Ground

The first step is to excavate the ground where the tarmac will get laid. The purpose of the excavation is to level the ground surface before the materials are applied.

2) Install the Edgings

Edgings must be installed to secure the tarmac in a fixed location on the property. Otherwise, the edges of the tarmac could diminish and fall apart after parking your vehicle on it repeatedly.

3) Apply the Base Layer

Our installers will lay down a base material made of a larger grade aggregate like a Geotextile woven membrane. We’ll use rollers to help compact the aggregate layer as much as possible. The base layer reduces the risk of sinking and weed growth coming through the tarmac.

4) Install Drainage

Drainage areas will get installed to prevent excess water from accumulating in the driveway after the tarmac gets laid.

5) Lay the Tarmac

Now the tarmac is ready to be laid on the surface. We usually add about two inches of tarmac on top of the base layer.
