High Friction Surfacing

HFS throughout the UK

High Friction Surfacing (HFS) is a revolutionary solution designed to enhance road safety and improve overall driving performance. This innovative surfacing technique is specifically formulated to provide exceptional grip and reduce skidding, even in adverse weather conditions. By increasing the antiskid properties of a surface, this creates more friction between the vehicle tyres and the road surface. HFS significantly reduces the risk of accidents, particularly in critical areas such as intersections, roundabouts, and pedestrian crossings. The aggregate (stone) is available in a range of colours dependant on clients wants.

One of the key advantages of HFS, is its versatility. It can be applied to various road surfaces, including asphalt and concrete, making it suitable for a wide range of environments. The surfacing material used in HFS consists of specially selected aggregates and resins, which are applied and cured to create a durable and skid-resistant surface. Surface Preparation & Planing

Key steps for surface readiness

THB can offer a variety of surface preparation solutions, suitable for most highways, such as fine milling.

We can offer 80 to 2,200mm planing widths covering most requirements from major highways to narrow spaces such as trenchworks and pavements. This allows us to remove existing High Friction and Asphalt surfacing in preparation for re-application.

Our Skid Steer Planer can also be adapted to fit a bucket and brush making it ideal for smaller work such as thermoplastic and rib line removal. Coupled with our Hydroblasting and Road sweepers units we can offer a complete surface preparation solution.
