Travis Perkins PLC - Paddington
TP Paddington depot is one of the most highly trafficked depots across the entire property portfolio, and past lining works had completely worn out well ahead of expected life.
Objective
As official contractor for all Travis Perkins depots in London, Home Counties, South East and South we hydro blast and line many TP depots.
The Paddington depot is one of the most highly trafficked across all Travis Perkins sites. Large articulated vehicles and heavy machinery operate here constantly and as a result lines and markings were often well worn, unclear or non-existent. We advised that thermoplastic paint was also not suitable in this environment, as it would need regular refreshing, which caused line thickness to build up and in turn create a trip hazard. Travis Perkins yards are predominantly concrete which is not ideal for thermoplastic as it can crack and chip in cold weather.
Solution
To tackle this problem we worked closely with Travis Perkins for over a year carrying out examinations and field trials of different products and application methods. Eventually we developed a bespoke solution that suits Travis Perkins needs and eradicated the previous issues.
The new method and solution now:
- Can be easily cleansed by hosing off
- Resist wear better than thermoplastic (previous solution used)
- Provides a safer environment by preventing trip hazards
- Is more economical as markings don’t have to be relayed as often
